Feltham Train Driver Convicted of Dishonestly Claiming Benefit

A Feltham resident who dishonestly claimed £1200 of benefits will be £2000 out of pocket after being caught and prosecuted by Fraud Investigators at Hounslow Council.  Ms Caroline Kennedy, of 103 Burns Avenue, Feltham, pleaded guilty at Brentford Magistrates Court on Friday 20 September.

Ms Kennedy failed to notify either the Council or the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) that she had started a job as a driver for South West Trains, earning approximately £344 a week.  From the start of her job on 16 July 2001, Ms Kennedy dishonestly claimed £967.68 in Housing Benefit and £274.69 in Council Tax Benefit.

At Brentford Magistrates Court, Ms Kennedy was fined £400 with £400 costs, and she must also repay the £1242.37 of benefits.
